The Makita 18V X2 LXT Lithium-Ion (36V) Brushless cordless 1/2 gallon HEPA filter backpack dry vacuum is a powerful and portable clean-up solution that eliminates extension cords that trail corded backpack vacuums. It’s also a powerful and portable dust extraction solution for contractors that bridges the gap between low-capacity on-board dust extraction systems and larger capacity but less portable wheeled canister job site vacuums. The XCV05PT is ideal for cleaning crews, as well as for construction applications when used as part of a dust extraction system (tool connecting adapters sold separately). the XCV05PT is powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for 36V power and performance but without leaving the 18V LXT battery platform. The efficient BL Brushless motor generates 53 CFM of suction and 28.5” of static water lift for fast clean-ups and improved dust extraction, with No cord to pull along or get in the way. The XCV05PT weighs only 9.4 lbs. (With empty dust bag and two 18V 5.0Ah batteries) and has padded shoulder straps and waist belt with multiple adjustments for a comfortable fit. I thought this would be awesome by the video’s and spec’s which suggest the cleaning …,
Ehhh itâs ok!!!,
2. The harness has broke three times in a month of use. The sides that Velcro around your waste are glued(bad idea) and the shoulder pads of the harness are falling apart badly. Iâm going to have to come up with another harness or fab up my own idea to make this vacuum last longer.
3. The stuff that gets sucked up gets stuck just before it leaves the hose and goes into the bag.
4. On/off cord is probably not going to last because it hangs from a two foot power cord into the back of the back pack. I connect it yo my waste yo protect it during use.
Pros
Batteries last an hour plus on High.
It saves lots of time not dealing with cords and frustration of knots and getting stuck under things.
The plus of time savings makes up for the flaws of the vacuum.
Over all I expected a lot more from makita.
Pics of harness and cord.
Perfect for fast, large scale vacuuming of hard floors of all types.,
Suction of the battery powered vacuum is now excellent, it handles my demands well. I bought 4 5 amp batteries and a dual charger as well, so this vacuum can work 24/7 if I need to. Just so you can compare, not having a cord that restricts your motions – that advantage about triples your speed. You do not have to spend time to plug the vacuum, unplug it, as well as guiding the cord to make sure it does not get tangled.
I strongly recommend getting this vacuum, it is very lightweight if comparing it to corded backpack vacs, not even talking about battery powered. Other “usual” vacuum brands that supply backpack vacs maybe have a little better suction (which I can’t quite recall if it was better then Makita or about the same) – used it for about a week in another facility. But they sure loose out on battery time – I think maximum that I ever used was 40 minutes. And also weight – by the time you spent an hour with those heavy vacs on your back, you sure do not want to continue doing the same. This Makita vacuum, on the other hand – you do not really feel it as a burden.
Very Awkward.,
Stand is just okay, but has some stability/design issues,
Must have this!,
